The real-world foundation that keeps our fantasy thriving.

🏮 I. Drama

Mugen Kuppuku means “give in to fantasy.”  The only drama allowed here is in-character drama. Do not bring personal fights, life problems, political arguments, vendettas, or grievances into:

  • RP areas

  • Group chat

  • Forums

  • Discord

  • Blogs

  • IMs related to RP

This RP is a place of creative escape. Real-life conflict has no place in it.

🏮 II. Out of Character Conduct

As required by Second Life TOS, all players must be adults in real life. This is an adult RP area, and underage players are strictly prohibited.

Players may not:

  • Harass other players

  • Troll or grief

  • Disrespect administrators

  • Fight publicly in group chats, forums, Discord, or blogs

Keep OOC chatter out of RP areas. If you need to talk, keep it in IMs.

🏮 III. Conflict Resolution

🏮 IV. Administrators and Game Masters

Administrators:

Admins maintain the sim, create lore, manage funds, and introduce NPCs for storyline purposes. NPCs may be more powerful than normal characters because they exist to drive narrative, not compete with players.

If an NPC is not fun, tell an admin. Adjustments can be made.

Game Masters:

GMs are storytellers. Their characters are not more powerful than others.

GM Rules:

  • They can change a scene to turn-based or free-flow

  • They can create approved events

  • They do not handle OOC conflict

  • They may freeze scenes if metagaming/godmodding/drama occurs

  • They must log frozen scenes and send logs to Conflict Resolution

  • They must follow the same OOC rules as everyone else

Important:
You cannot mute the sim owner (Kale Bailey). If you disagree, do not RP here.

🏮 V. In-Character / Out of Character Boundaries

This is one of the most common rule-breaking areas, so it gets an HTML educational block for clarity.

Admins intervene only when:

  • The crossing affects major storylines

  • It is done repeatedly

  • It occurs directly in front of an admin

🏮 VI. Abilities and Powers

All abilities and powers must be approved during the application process.

If you are caught using undeclared abilities, any scene in which they were used may be voided or retroactively changed.

The only times an unregistered power may be used are when:

  • It is granted in-character by an NPC

  • It is tied to an approved object or ward

  • It has been approved out of character by the Applications Manager as part of character growth

If you wish to add or change abilities after approval, you must contact the Applications Manager listed in the Mugen Kuppuku Island Administrators and Alts page.

Using Powers on Other Characters:

When using powers or abilities aggressively toward another character, you must contact the affected player OOC first and gain permission. Even if a power is realistic or lore-consistent, consent is still required.

If the other player declines, you must respect that decision and roleplay accordingly.

The purpose of powers is to enhance storytelling—not to force outcomes.

Powers that ALWAYS Require OOC Permission

The following list is not exhaustive. When unsure, ask.

If you worry that asking OOC will ruin surprise, you may say something like:

“I have certain abilities I’d like to use on your character. If it doesn’t work for you, let me know and I’ll retract my post.”

If you find it difficult to speak OOC with someone about power usage, that is a strong indication you should not be roleplaying with them.

Exceptions:
Admins and NPCs may use powers freely for storytelling purposes.
Special wards and items granted by NPCs must always be obeyed. Conflicts should be escalated to Conflict Resolution.

🏮 VII. Power Gaming

Power gaming often occurs when there is little OOC communication or when a player’s writing style leaves no room for response.

Guidelines to Avoid Power Gaming

Communication is the single best way to prevent power gaming.
When unsure—ask first.

🏮 VIII. Avatar Requirements

All avatars must follow these rules:

  • Unlimited alts are allowed, but you must disclose if an alt holds a GM position

  • One character per alt only

  • No age play

  • Characters must be 18+

  • Avatars must be 5’8” or taller, measured without shoes or extreme hair using the ruler at the Information & OOC Spot

  • Female characters disguising themselves as students must convincingly pass as male

  • Transgender male students and faculty are accepted if they meet the criteria in the Academy Guidebook

  • Villagers have no gender restrictions

These rules exist to protect the sim legally and maintain immersion.

🏮 IX. Roleplay Style

For clarity and readability:

  • Spoken dialogue must be in quotes

  • Avoid cyber-speak (“ur,” “r u,” etc.)

  • Limited use of abbreviations (OMG, WTF) is allowed for dramatic effect

  • This is a text-based RP — voice is not permitted except for approved IC DJs

🏮 X. Consistency

Your approved application is your official record.

All abilities, traits, and detectable qualities must be listed in:

  • Your application

  • Your profile picks (clearly marked as Mugen Kuppuku)

  • Your forum character profile

If your character develops new abilities through RP, approval is required before continuing.

Off-sim roleplay is allowed only if it does not bypass Mugen rules.
Non-affiliated RP is considered alternate universe and has no effect on canon.

🏮 XI. Realism

All players are expected to obey the physical boundaries of the environment.

  • If a door is locked, you cannot pass through it.

  • If a wall is solid, you cannot hear through it without approved abilities.

  • If characters are physically distant and you lack special senses, you cannot eavesdrop.

Second Life is a three-dimensional platform. Pay attention to avatar positioning, objects, and visual cues in addition to text when deciding what your character can realistically perceive or do.

🏮 XII. Combat & Death

Mugen Kuppuku Island is not a combat sim.

  • Weapons must be approved on a case-by-case basis by the Applications Manager.

  • Weapons used solely for sports, clubs, or standard law enforcement duties do not require approval.

There is no mandatory combat system. Conflicts may be resolved by:

  • Roleplay skill

  • OOC agreement

  • Dice rolls

  • A mutually agreed-upon battle system

God-moding is strictly prohibited. Character development always takes priority over combat scenes.

Death

Character death must be approved by a Mugen Kuppuku Island Game Master.

Death affects:

  • Other characters

  • The island’s safety

  • The reputation of the academy and village

Do not use character death as:

  • Punishment for OOC conflict

  • A way to vent frustration

  • A shortcut to retire a character

If you wish to retire a character, explore alternative IC exits first.

🏮 XIII. Sex

Sexual roleplay is allowed, but IC actions have IC consequences.

  • Public nudity or sex may result in law enforcement intervention or social consequences.

  • Other characters may react negatively, spread rumors, or become hostile.

Rules:

  • Full genitalia exposure is allowed.

  • Genital chat scripts must be turned off.

  • Explicit sexual detail must be kept to IMs.

  • Loud noises or vague descriptions may occur in public chat, but details must be toned down.

If a third party interrupts your scene, you may not ask them OOC to leave. This is a public, freeform roleplay.

The focus of Mugen Kuppuku Island is character development, not sexual content.

🏮 XIV. Taboos

The following roleplay content is strictly prohibited. Violations may result in retconning, suspension, or removal from the roleplay.

If you are uncertain whether a storyline violates these rules, contact the Applications Manager before proceeding.

🏮 XV. Group Chat and Notices

Only active Game Masters and Administrators may send group notices.

Notices are for:

  • Important IC announcements

  • Important OOC updates

They may not be used for:

  • Spam

  • Personal opinions

  • Vendettas

  • Unrelated advertisements

Group chat may be used for:

  • Announcing classes or events

  • Looking for RP partners

  • Coordinating storylines

  • Lighthearted RP-related conversation

Do not discuss:

  • Other roleplays

  • Politics

  • Religion

  • Heavy real-world topics

🏮 XVI. Prim Usage

To maintain sim stability, prim usage is strictly regulated.

  • Game Masters may rez temporary scenes and must clean them up afterward.

  • Renters are limited by their tier allotment.

  • GM/Renters may have adjusted limits to avoid system alerts.

Objects exceeding allowed limits may be returned without warning.

For exact allowances, refer to Mugen Kuppuku Island Guidelines for Prim Usage.

🏮 XVII. Visitors

Visitors are players not yet accepted into the roleplay.

  • Visitors must follow the Visitor Guidebook.

  • Observers may not speak OOC in general chat.

  • Visitors wishing to RP must follow all visitor rules.

Affiliated visitors may roleplay under the following conditions:

To use powers or special items from an affiliated sim, submit the Affiliated Visitor Application.

🏮 XVIII. Affiliations

Affiliations are agreements with other roleplays or sims.

  • Joint events, field trips, and story collaborations are welcome.

  • Yaoi-themed groups are encouraged to affiliate.

Players visiting other sims must follow that sim’s rules.
Visitors to Mugen must follow our rules.

Refer to the Affiliates Guidebook for current partnerships.

🏮 XIX. Off-Sim Roleplay

Characters may leave the island for story reasons or real-life absences.

Rules:

  • Non-affiliated RP is considered alternate universe and non-canon.

  • Only affiliated or GM-approved locations count toward canon events.

  • Mugen follows real-time progression. Travel takes time.

While traveling, players may:

  • Post in Public or Private Media

  • Use the Forum-Style RP area

  • Rez mainland scenes in the holodeck

Do not roleplay in the Information & OOC Spot.

Affiliated sims must be respected. Check the Affiliates Guidebook for travel rules and requirements.
