✒️ I. Introduction
Thank you for considering the Mugen Kuppuku Academy Exchange Program! The purpose of this aspect of our roleplay is to build relationships with other Japanese, anime, or manga themed roleplays that have schools on the Second Life grid. As an exchange student or faculty member, you will be able to directly interact with the storylines of Mugen Kuppuku Academy while maintaining your character’s backstory from a different roleplay.
As part of the exchange program, we hope that you will experience the different roleplay styles and storytelling that are unique to Mugen Kuppuku. Our sim focuses on relationships, social order, and the socioemotional struggle to either make it or break it at the academy and village. Your character has the unique opportunity to experience this from the vantage point of an exchange student or exchange faculty member.
We hope that you enjoy your time as an exchange student or exchange faculty member at Mugen Kuppuku Academy. As always, we are here for your entertainment.
✒️ II. Exchange Program Description
Both faculty members and students from affiliated sims may participate in the exchange program. They will spend exactly 7 real life days in the program before returning to their main roleplay. This time frame can be changed depending on circumstances in the storyline, such as requesting an extension. Once the time has run out, the exchange members will return to their home school. During this time, students and faculty from Mugen Kuppuku Academy will be spending the same amount of time in the affiliated sim.
To be a part of the exchange program, all roleplays involved must be previously affiliated. If you are interested in affiliating with Mugen Kuppuku Academy, then read the Mugen Kuppuku Island Affiliates Guidebook.
We hope that everyone involved in the exchange program will be active in the stories of Mugen. However, if they have administrative duties or events on their home roleplay that they must take care of, we understand and will not mind if they have to take time out of the exchange program to teleport back to their home roleplay to take care of the day-to-day management and storylines of their games.
The following are descriptions of the duties of exchange faculty and students:
We want you to have a full experience at the hosting sim, so your character may undergo anything that typically happens at the host roleplay. However, upon your return, any new abilities, items, transformations, or status effects you gained in the host roleplay will have to be approved by the Game Master of Mugen Kuppuku Island if you wish to continue using them. If they are not approved, then an in-character reason will be provided as to why.
All exchange students and staff either coming or going will be given a group invite to the “Exchange Program” role in the Mugen Kuppuku Academy group. This will allow you to receive notices and see all of the out-of-character chat. Please remember to have good etiquette and to focus your chat on the events of the Mugen Kuppuku Island roleplay. Our other players are not in the exchange program and will wish to keep the chat focused on what they joined the chat for. For further clarification, see the “group” section of the Out of Character Rules. Once the week is over, you may remove yourself from our groups if you wish.
You will also be invited to register in the Mugen Kuppuku Academy Forums. This will allow you to keep a character journal, check out rumors and events, receive in-character messages, and participate in the out-of-character chats. When the exchange week has ended, you may remain registered in the forums if you wish and continue to participate in the Out of Character Lounge, but may no longer post in any other forums.
You may participate in the exchange program as many times as you like; however, you will need approval from your administrators for each tour that you do in Mugen Kuppuku Academy. If something happens in real life that prevents you from roleplaying the full seven days, you may request an extension from the Game Master of Mugen Kuppuku Island. If you are still unable to roleplay even with the extension, we recommend that you withdraw from the exchange program and reapply when you have more time.
✒️ III. Out of Character Rules
You will be expected to follow our out of character rules while you are on the Mugen Kuppuku Island sim. You can read them in the Out of Character Rules section of our guidebook. If you are unable to follow our rules after several warnings, you may be told to return to your home roleplay. Griefers, trolls, and harassment are not tolerated and may lead to automatic banning.
We consider our exchange students to be guests here, so certain rules pertaining to your character’s management and appearance will be relaxed. Those adjustments can be found below, and are considered replacements for the sections of the same name in our rulebook:
Avatar Requirements – The following are rules you must abide by for the appearance and use of your avatar:
If you typically use multiple characters under the same avatar in your home roleplay, then you must use only the one that you are registering for the exchange program. Please do not change characters under the same avatar for the duration of your 7-day exchange program. Afterwards, you are free to change characters at will, but please be clear as to which one you are using to reduce confusion.
There is no age play. You may not roleplay child avatars, although you can include young characters in your history, such as having a little sister or a son. Your character must also be 18 and older.
Your avatar must be 5 feet or taller as measured by our ruler to be a part of the roleplay, and your avatar should bear the appearance of an adult. Since we have lowered the height requirements for our guests, it is imperative that you have an adult appearance. Unfortunately this can be a subjective judgement on the part of our game masters, and you may be asked to change your avatar if you do not look like an adult to them. Considering the legal repercussions of age play, this is a very sensitive rule that we require you to follow.
If you want to be 100% sure that your character’s appearance is accepted, then you can request that the Application Manager take a look at you to be certain. Please bear in mind that you cannot change your character height, backstory, or abilities after you have been accepted. If you intend for your character to develop new abilities or change to a lower height in the process of the roleplay, then be sure to inform the Application Manager of this ahead of time so that you may be approved before you roleplay it.
For characters that are “micro” — in other words, 1 foot tall or shorter — we request that they are non-sexual characters. Feral characters that are in complete quadruped form and do not speak will not be accepted into the exchange program. Shapeshifters will have to follow our Shape-shifter Guidebook.
Your character cannot be pregnant.
Consistency:
At the time that you apply as an exchange student, your notecard will contain a list of your physical abilities, atmospheric abilities, items, and backstory. Please do not make up new powers for this sim — only list the ones that have already been approved by your home sim. The Application Manager will approve or diminish some of these things according to the rules and needs of this sim.
Post a copy of your final approved application in the Mugen Kuppuku Academy Exchange Student Forum if you are a student, or the Mugen Kuppuku Academy Faculty Member Forum if you are faculty. This will serve as a guide for both you and the game masters so that they know what to expect and how to react to the usage of any of your special abilities, powers, or items. Always refer to your posts in the forums if you are unsure about what has been approved.

If your character is simultaneously involved in any other roleplays that have not affiliated with us yet, we ask that you do not mention any activities performed on those sims in-character. This is so we can keep the integrity of the roleplay intact and respect the admins of other sims who may wish to keep roleplay done on their sims exclusive to them.
Group Chat and Notices:
We want everyone in the exchange program to be fully immersed in the roleplay experience of Mugen Kuppuku Island during the time that they are here. For this reason, exchange program members are included in the main roleplay group of the academy. This will let you see all of our announcements and interact out of character with our players. If you are applying as an exchange faculty member, then you will have permissions to use our notice system to announce any classes or events that you will be hosting.
Group chat is an appropriate place to announce classes, ask for roleplay partners, discuss stories, and coordinate events related to the sim. It can also be used to have lighthearted fun, as long as the topic relates to roleplay in Mugen Kuppuku. We ask that you do not advertise other sims, and that you do not bring any personal opinions about heavy topics such as politics, human rights, or religion to the conversation. We want to keep a lighthearted, comfortable environment for our roleplayers. Our groups are never to be used for spam, personal opinions, vendettas, or anything that is not strictly related to the roleplay and our players.
Although we love our exchange students, we want our chats to focus on our sim and its roleplay. Please do not bring up conversations that compare our roleplay to others, and avoid discussing plotlines or events from your main roleplay sim.
Nowadays we also use Discord to communicate both IC and OOC. Feel free to use our Tupperbox bot to make a handle for your character for all IC interactions, and use your regular name for all OOC interactions. Faculty will be able to post in-character in the #faculty-and-support-staff channel, and students will be able to post in any channel that has their exchange dorm name listed.
✒️ IV. In Character Rules
The following are in-character rules that are not enforced on an out of character basis. Breaking these rules in-character may lead to in-character consequences, which can be anything from detention to removal from the exchange program:
✒️ V. Abilities, Powers, Items
To maintain the integrity of our roleplay, there is an acceptance process that must be followed, and you may find that the abilities, powers, or items that you typically carry in your home roleplay grounds will be limited. We will minimize the impact that this has on your character’s persona as much as we can and offer an in-character explanation as to why your character is powered down.
Typically this will come in the form of wards or confiscations executed by our Supernatural Task Force, which is a game-mastered group used to control powers. You may also choose to limit yourself through roleplay at your home sim prior to entry into our sim. In Mugen Kuppuku, we want our players to rely more on their relationships, prestige, wit, and force of personality to have the edge in our storylines.
Upon leaving our sim, all abilities and items will be returned to you. Any new abilities, powers, or special items acquired while in Mugen Kuppuku Island must be approved by the administrators of your home sim as well as ours. It is best to declare your intentions to gain abilities, powers, or items during the application process before you begin your seven-day exchange program.
